Silverwing

Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel has been the most popular novel study in my intermediate grades. Some students have, when I have a split grade, wanted to read it again. The storyline captures the imagination. The conflict between the owls and the bats gives rise to numerous questions. The unopened door of knowledge waiting to be explored in the form of bat habits, bat types, bat enemies, city versus rural bats, owls and also, sadly, bats used in laboratories, seems to be endless and thus feeding the curious minds of its readers.
